Platz = Square

If you're ever taking public in Germany, which you will most likely do when there, then you'll become very familiar with the word, "Platz." This literally means "square," so many of the places are the names of the squares within the city. In older romantic towns like Rothenburg ob Der Tauber, the squares were where the richest members of the communities lived and where the most ornate houses were located.
