As small as Rothenburg ob der Tauber is, you can see from my many blog postings that there is a lot to see and do. One of the last stops worth mentioning is the Baumeisterhaus, or the "Builder House" that was constructed during the Renaissance period. It features an indoor courtyard as pictured, which was once built and used as an outdoor courtyard by the town's master architect who designed it as an example house and used it as his own home. Many of the other elaborate buildings pictured in the city square were also designed by him. For many generations now, it has served as a great cafe and bakery (and of course carries eiskaffee and eisschokolade!). Since the WWI era, it has served as a popular hot spot for stay at home mothers and older women to catch up on the town gossip and socialize.
