Named after Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV, the Charles bridge was completed in the 15th century and served as an important connector between Old Town and Prague Castle. Today in Prague, there is still of the division of Old Town and New Town. On the actual bridge, there are 30 statues of saints and other religious figures that were added around the 1700s. Some of the most famous saints include: St. John Nepomuk (whose tomb is in St. Vitus's), John the Baptist, Francis of Assisi, and St. Augustine.
